Ex-Islamabad Police Chief Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi is already to take the new role as Director General of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), sources told The Asian Mirror.
Rizvi was serving as Inspector General of Islamabad Police after taking charge in April 2024. During his period, he oversaw policing, security and law-and-order operations in the federal capital.
His transfer comes as part of a reshuffle in the federal capital’s policing and cybercrime investigation setup. Captain (Retd.) Sohail Chaudhry is his replacement as Islamabad Police chief.

What is NCCIA?
The NCCIA is Pakistan’s specialized agency responsible for investigating cybercrime and taking legal action against cybercriminals. Its work includes handling complaints involving online fraud, harassment and data breaches, along with digital forensics and technical investigations.
The agency was established as the central body for cybercrime investigations, replacing the Federal Investigation Agency’s cybercrime wing. It now operates through offices across the country and directly receives complaints related to cyber offences.
