Pakistan’s 5G Reaches 1.3 Million Users Across 23 Cities

PTA Orders Faster 5G Rollout as Pakistan Plans 1,000 New Towers Per Operator

Pakistan’s 5G rollout is picking up speed.

Around 1.3 million people are now using 5G services across 23 cities, with more than 1,200 5G sites activated during the first four months of the rollout.

Mobile operators are continuing to add new sites as they work to bring faster connectivity to more customers and locations.

5G expansion continues

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) are overseeing the rollout.

At the same time, telecom operators are installing new equipment and bringing additional 5G sites online.

The goal is to extend coverage beyond the 23 cities already connected and give more people access to next-generation mobile services.

Rollout began after 2026 spectrum auction

Pakistan’s 5G journey entered a new phase after the 5G spectrum auction on March 10, 2026.

Following the auction, spectrum was allocated to mobile operators, allowing them to begin commercial 5G services and expand their networks.

Operators were also given infrastructure deployment targets, including requirements for activating 5G sites.

Officials say work is still underway to make more sites operational.

What does this mean for users?

As coverage expands, more consumers could gain access to faster mobile internet and greater network capacity.

The wider rollout could also benefit businesses, digital services, and other users who rely heavily on mobile connectivity.

For now, the numbers show that Pakistan’s 5G network is growing quickly — and the expansion is far from over.
