Maryam Nawaz Undergoes Surgery, Discharged From Hospital: Punjab Govt

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has undergone a major surgical procedure at Sharif Medical City Hospital and has now been discharged and shifted home, according to Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

Confirming the development, Aurangzeb said the chief minister underwent surgery a few days ago after suffering from severe throat pain. She added that Maryam Nawaz’s condition is stable and that she has returned home following medical clearance.

“Alhamdulillah, Maryam Nawaz has been shifted home after treatment,” Aurangzeb said in a statement.

Despite being hospitalized, the chief minister continued to supervise key provincial matters during Eid, maintaining direct oversight of security, sanitation, and administrative arrangements across Punjab. Officials said she remained in regular contact with senior authorities to ensure uninterrupted governance during the holiday period.

According to Aurangzeb, Maryam Nawaz personally monitored Eid-related operations, including cleanliness drives and security deployments, even while recovering from surgery. She said the chief minister issued instructions to use modern surveillance and monitoring systems to manage public spaces during the festivities.

State-of-the-art technology was deployed through coordinated efforts between the Punjab Safe City Authority and Suthra Punjab. Authorities used drone cameras to oversee densely populated neighbourhoods, narrow streets, marketplaces, and major gathering points to ensure effective sanitation and security coverage.

Punjab officials said cleanliness operations and law-and-order arrangements remained on high alert throughout Eid, with real-time monitoring allowing quick response to any issues. The chief minister, they added, remained actively engaged in reviewing updates and issuing directions.

Maryam Nawaz assumed office as Punjab’s chief minister earlier this year and has emphasized administrative discipline, technology-driven governance, and visible field oversight as core priorities of her leadership.
