The Pakistan Cricket Board has confirmed the full schedule for Australia’s three-match ODI tour of Pakistan, with matches set in Rawalpindi and Lahore later this month.
The series will mark another high-profile home assignment for Pakistan as international cricket continues to return in full flow.
Australia’s men’s team will land in Islamabad on May 23. The opening ODI will be played on May 30 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, followed by two matches at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and June 4. All games will start at 4:30 p.m. local time, with the toss scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, speaking in an official statement issued from Lahore on May 7, 2026, said the series reflects Pakistan’s growing ability to host top-tier international sides safely and consistently.
“The return of Australia for a full ODI series is a strong signal of confidence in Pakistan cricket operations and security systems,” Naqvi said. “We are committed to delivering world-class hosting standards for players and fans.”
The tour comes at a time when Pakistan is actively positioning itself as a regular hub for elite cricket, with Rawalpindi and Lahore once again at the centre of international fixtures.
Fixtures spread across Rawalpindi and Lahore
The first ODI in Rawalpindi is expected to draw a strong crowd from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and surrounding areas such as Murree Road and Saddar markets, where cricket interest traditionally runs high during international fixtures.
Ticket demand has already picked up in early phases, with fans preparing for the return of Australia’s ODI squad.
Lahore will host the final two matches. Gaddafi Stadium, which has recently undergone further upgrades, is expected to see heavy attendance, particularly from areas like Model Town, DHA, and nearby Faisal Town, where cricket screenings and ticket bookings usually surge ahead of major games.
And with the series scheduled in the evening slot, broadcasters are also expecting strong viewership across Pakistan.
Squad changes linked to IPL commitments
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley, in a statement from Melbourne on May 6, 2026, confirmed that player availability will depend heavily on Indian Premier League commitments.
“The IPL schedule overlaps with the Pakistan ODI series, so we are managing player workloads carefully while ensuring competitive squads for both tours,” Hockley said.
Several senior Australian players are expected to miss the Pakistan leg due to IPL duties. However, players from franchises eliminated early could still join the squad.
So, Australia’s ODI balance may shift significantly depending on IPL outcomes, especially in the final week of May.
Pakistan’s home record adds context
According to ESPNcricinfo statistical records updated in April 2026, Australia have won 7 of their last 10 ODIs in Asia, showing strong form in subcontinental conditions.
And Pakistan will take confidence from their recent home performances, including a 2-1 series win over Australia in 2022. That result remains one of the key reference points for both teams heading into this series.
Return series builds on recent encounters
Australia last toured Pakistan for a full ODI series in 2022, followed by shorter formats in later visits. In early 2025, Pakistan also swept Australia 3-0 in a T20I series in Lahore, strengthening their home dominance in white-ball cricket.
But this time conditions may differ, with squad rotations and IPL-linked absences likely to influence team combinations on both sides.
The ODI series will also serve as a build-up for Australia’s next assignment in Bangladesh, which begins on June 9. For Pakistan, it is another opportunity to test depth, crowd support, and home advantage in a tightly scheduled international season.
