Hammad Azhar resigns from senior positions in PTI. Hammad Azhar, a prominent PTI leader, announced his resignation from crucial party positions on Wednesday.
This decision comes in the wake of mounting challenges faced by Azhar, rendering him unable to effectively lead the party.
Hammad Azhar resigns from senior positions
Azhar, who previously served as the General Secretary and acting president of PTI’s Punjab chapter, tendered his resignation through a two-page letter shared on the social media platform X.
Citing his incapacity to lead amidst ongoing adversities, Azhar took the step to step down from these key roles within the party structure.
Challenges Faced by Azhar
In his resignation letter addressed to Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Omar Ayub, Azhar shed light on the numerous hurdles obstructing his leadership journey.
He revealed being embroiled in a staggering 42 false terrorism cases and facing a ban from all electronic media imposed by PEMRA.
Additionally, Azhar disclosed the distressing ordeal of his home being repeatedly raided, his family subjected to harassment, and the necessity of sending his wife and young children abroad to shield them from the trauma.
“My home has been raided repeatedly, ransacked and sealed, my family harassed. I have had to send my wife and young children abroad to protect them from the weekly trauma of raids and uncertainty or worse while I have worked for the party from an undisclosed location since May 2023,” read the letter.
“It has been an honor, but it would be selfish of me to continue while I am still in hiding and unable to represent the party even on television. In my opinion, at this stage the party would be best served by a leadership in Punjab that is able to be present on the ground and lead from the front. In addition, it should be able to appear on Television and most importantly to have access to the founding chairman directly to receive instructions and communicate with him directly,” the PTI stalwart said.
Inability to Represent the Party
Expressing his inability to effectively represent the party, especially in media engagements, Azhar deemed it selfish to continue holding prominent positions while remaining in hiding.
He emphasized the importance of physical presence in Punjab’s leadership to lead from the forefront and maintain direct communication with the party’s founding chairman.
Pledging Continued Support
Despite relinquishing his formal roles, Azhar reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to PTI, pledging to continue serving the party as a loyal and ideological worker.
While stepping down from leadership positions, Azhar expressed readiness to render his services in alternative capacities, ensuring his continued contribution to PTI’s mission.
Hammad Azhar‘s resignation underscores the challenges faced by political figures amidst Pakistan’s evolving landscape, marking a significant development within PTI’s internal dynamics.
Hammad Azhar’s father Mian Azhar recently won the elections from NA-129 on a PTI ticket.
