A gun attack targeting religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was foiled in Jhelum on Sunday after police swiftly responded and killed the armed attacker on the spot.
According to police and academy administration, the incident occurred around 10:45 am when a gunman opened fire at the main gate of the scholar’s academy.
Security personnel deployed at the location immediately returned fire, leading to an exchange in which the attacker was neutralised.
Police Officer Injured, Students Safe
A police official was injured during the incident and was shifted to hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that all individuals inside the academy remained safe at the time of the attack.
The academy administration said approximately 150 to 200 people were present during a regular Sunday lecture session when the firing began.
