The Pakistan Peoples Party has emerged as the leading political force in the Gilgit-Baltistan general elections, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results received so far, as vote counting continues across the region.
PPP leads as counting continues
Results from 14 of the 24 general seats of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly indicate that the PPP has secured six seats so far. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has won two seats, while Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen has secured one seat. Independent candidates have claimed five constituencies.
Election officials said the results remain provisional, with final outcomes subject to confirmation after completion of the counting process in all constituencies.
Key PPP victories across constituencies
The PPP posted notable wins in several constituencies across Gilgit-Baltistan.
In GBA-4 Nagar, PPP candidate Muhammad Ali Akhtar won with 7,670 votes, defeating Islami Tehreek’s Muhammad Ayub Waziri, who polled 6,566 votes.
In GBA-11 Kharmang, PPP’s Iqbal Hassan secured victory with 6,141 votes, while PML-N candidate Mohsin Rizvi received 4,170 votes.
PPP candidate Imran Nadeem won GBA-12 Shigar after securing 12,179 votes, defeating Raja Azam Khan of Islami Tehreek-e-Pakistan, who obtained 7,700 votes.

In GBA-7 Skardu, Tauqir Mehdi Shah of PPP emerged victorious with 4,320 votes, while IPP’s Raja Jalal Hussain finished second with 3,891 votes.
The party also secured GBA-19, where Syed Jalal Shah won with 9,613 votes, ahead of independent candidate Nawaz Khan, who secured 8,210 votes.
PML-N wins in Gilgit and Ghanche
The PML-N recorded victories in two constituencies announced so far.
In GBA-22 Ghanche, PML-N candidate Ibrahim Sanai won with 12,048 votes, defeating PPP’s Dr Ashiq Hussain, who received 9,258 votes.
Former Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister Hafeezur Rehman secured GBA-2 Gilgit for PML-N with 11,204 votes, while PPP’s Jamil Ahmed came second with 7,376 votes.
MWM opens account in Skardu
Majlis-e-Wahdat Muslimeen secured its first seat through Maisam Kazim in GBA-8 Skardu. He won with 10,474 votes, narrowly defeating PPP’s Syed Muhammad Ali Shah, who secured 10,118 votes.
Independents make strong showing
Independent candidates have also performed strongly, winning five constituencies according to the results announced so far.
Naqnam Karim won GBA-6 Hunza with 6,390 votes, while PPP’s Imtiaz-ul-Haq finished second.
In GBA-3 Gilgit, independent candidate Syed Sohail Abbas secured 7,853 votes, narrowly defeating PPP’s Aftab Haider.
Independent candidates also won GBA-24, GBA-23, and GBA-16 Diamer, reflecting a fragmented mandate in several areas.
More results awaited
With counting still underway in the remaining constituencies, election officials said further results are expected in the coming hours. The final composition of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly will become clear once results from all 24 general seats are officially confirmed.
Based on the unofficial results so far, the PPP is leading the race, followed by PML-N, MWM, and a significant bloc of independent legislators, setting the stage for possible post-election alignments.
