Balochistan Launches Youth Vocational Training in Quetta

Balochistan Launches Youth Vocational Training in Quetta

The Balochistan government has launched the Youth Vocational Skills Training Programme in Quetta to help young people develop professional skills, improve employment prospects and become financially self-reliant.

The initiative focuses on technical and vocational training tailored to practical workplace requirements, with particular emphasis on women’s participation. It aims to prepare young people for jobs while encouraging them to establish small businesses and pursue self-employment.

Under the programme, participants in Quetta are receiving hands-on training in different vocational fields to develop skills that can be used to generate income and build sustainable careers.

More Than 240 Female Students Enrolled

More than 240 female students are currently enrolled in training courses covering beauty services, hand embroidery and other vocational skills.

The programme places particular emphasis on practical learning so participants can apply their skills in the workplace or use them to start small businesses after completing their courses.

Training in these fields may provide women with opportunities to work in salons, offer services independently, develop embroidery businesses or explore other income-generating activities, depending on their skills and local market demand.

The initiative also seeks to improve access to vocational education for women by equipping them with practical abilities that can support greater financial independence.

Government Targets Training for More Than 720 Young People

The provincial government has set a target of providing technical and vocational training to more than 720 young people in Quetta under the programme.

The target reflects the government’s effort to expand skills development and improve employment opportunities for young people in Balochistan.

Vocational training can help participants acquire practical skills for specific occupations, potentially improving their ability to find work or become self-employed. However, employment outcomes will depend on factors such as market demand, training quality and access to finance and business opportunities.

Focus on Employment and Women’s Economic Empowerment

The Youth Vocational Skills Training Programme is intended to support economic self-reliance by connecting skills development with potential employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

For women, vocational education can provide a route to earning an income through employment or home-based businesses. For young people more broadly, practical training can help bridge the gap between education and the skills required for particular occupations.

The programme’s progress will depend on how effectively it expands enrolment, delivers relevant training and helps graduates use their skills in the labour market.

With more than 240 female students already enrolled and a target of training over 720 young people in Quetta, the initiative is aimed at strengthening vocational skills development and widening economic opportunities in Balochistan.
