Previously recorded audio tapes of Diana, Princess of Wales, have resurfaced in media discussions, offering insight into the emotional challenges she said she faced during her honeymoon with the then-Charles III, who was Prince Charles at the time.
The recordings, originally made for royal biographer Andrew Morton and later referenced in biographies and media reports, describe Diana’s concerns about Camilla and the impact she believed the relationship had on her early marriage.
Cufflinks Sparked an Argument
According to Diana’s account, one incident during the honeymoon centered on a pair of cufflinks bearing two intertwined “C”s.
She said she believed the gift had been given to Charles by Camilla before their wedding and asked him directly about its origin.
Diana recalled that Charles confirmed the cufflinks were “a present from a friend,” which led to a heated argument between the newlyweds.
“I Dreamt of Camilla the Whole Time”
In the recordings, Diana described feeling unable to escape thoughts about Camilla during the honeymoon.
She said:
“At night, I dreamt of Camilla the whole time. I was obsessed by Camilla totally.”
