District Education Authority Lahore has approved a new initiative aimed at improving mental health and psychological well-being among students in public schools across Lahore, education officials said.
The Psychology Development Program will focus primarily on students in grades nine and ten and is intended to strengthen emotional resilience, promote positive behaviour and help students manage academic and personal pressures.
According to officials, the programme will include structured sessions on resilience-building, personal safety awareness and career guidance, addressing challenges commonly faced by adolescents at the secondary school level.
The initiative will be led by mental health professionals Samavia Butt and Dayan Zafar, with assistance from trained psychology interns.
Education authorities have instructed school administrations to provide full cooperation to ensure smooth implementation. The programme will be rolled out in phases following formal administrative approval.
Officials said the initiative reflects growing recognition of the importance of mental health support within the public education system, particularly as students face increasing academic stress and social challenges.
