Punjab Raises PMS Age Limit to 32 for 2026 and 2027 Exams

Senate Panel Proposes Major Changes to CSS Exam

The Punjab government has approved a two-year relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates appearing in the Provincial Management Service (PMS) BS-17 competitive examination.

Under the one-time relaxation, candidates up to 32 years old can apply for the PMS exams in 2026 and 2027.

Who can benefit?

The relaxation applies specifically to recruitment for PMS BS-17 posts.

It will remain in effect from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027.

This means candidates who would normally cross the existing age limit can still compete for PMS positions during this period.

Why was the age limit changed?

The Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) issued the notification after the Punjab governor approved amendments to the Punjab Civil Servants Recruitment (Relaxation of Upper Age Limit) Rules, 1976.

The measure is being introduced as a special, one-time dispensation.

For aspiring civil servants who have been waiting for another chance, the change could open the door to the PMS examination.

Candidates will still need to meet all other eligibility, qualification and examination requirements set for PMS recruitment.
