The Ministry of Education has ordered the temporary closure of educational institutions across the United Arab Emirates and directed a shift to online learning as a precautionary measure.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, the ministry said distance learning will be implemented from Tuesday, May 5, to Friday, May 8, 2026. The decision applies to all nurseries as well as public and private schools nationwide, covering students, teachers, and administrative staff.
The ministry said the move was taken to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students and school personnel, adding that maintaining continuity of learning remains a priority during the closure period.

According to the statement, all academic activities will continue through approved digital platforms, with schools instructed to ensure that online systems remain accessible and functional for all students. Parents have been advised to stay in contact with school administrations for schedules and technical support.
The education ministry said the situation will be reviewed on Friday, May 8, 2026, and the duration of distance learning may be extended if circumstances require. Any further decisions will be announced through official channels.
Authorities did not specify the exact reasons behind the precautionary step, but stressed that the measure was taken in the interest of public safety and institutional preparedness.
