Lula Slams Trump’s War Rhetoric, Warns Against Daily Threats and Global Instability

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has openly criticised US President Donald Trump, warning that the international community cannot afford to be destabilised by daily online messages containing threats against other nations or implicit declarations of war.

Speaking at a conference of progressive leaders in Barcelona, President Lula said modern diplomacy is being weakened by aggressive rhetoric and impulsive communication from powerful heads of state. He stressed that global peace cannot be managed through social media pressure or inflammatory statements.

Concern Over Iran Conflict and Global Stability

Referring to ongoing tensions linked to the Iran conflict, Lula warned that failure to achieve a diplomatic breakthrough would place greater responsibility on the world’s most powerful nations. He said the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council must change their conduct and act collectively to prevent escalation.

According to Lula, repeated public threats not only increase geopolitical risk but also undermine trust in international institutions designed to maintain peace and security.

Call for Diplomacy Over Digital Provocation

“It is not acceptable to wake up every morning and go to sleep every night reading war-related tweets from any head of state,” Lula said, emphasising the need for restraint, dialogue, and consistent diplomacy. He added that global leaders must recognise the weight of their words in an era of instant communication.

Lula’s remarks reflect growing concern among international leaders over how digital platforms are influencing foreign policy, crisis management, and global stability—particularly during periods of heightened tension in the Middle East.
