Manchester United have completed the signing of Belgium international Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for a reported £35 million ($47 million), strengthening their midfield ahead of the new Premier League season.
The 29-year-old midfielder has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford after returning from the FIFA World Cup, where he captained Belgium to the quarter-finals. The move marks United’s third signing of the summer transfer window as the club continues to rebuild its squad.

Tielemans becomes Manchester United’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Andrey Santos from Chelsea and goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Leeds United.
Director of football Jason Wilcox welcomed the signing, describing Tielemans as one of the Premier League’s standout midfielders.
“He has all the technical qualities, as well as the ambition and mentality, to succeed at Manchester United,” Wilcox said.
The signing comes as United look to strengthen their midfield following Casemiro’s departure and Manuel Ugarte’s knee ligament injury sustained during the World Cup.
Tielemans’ Career Before Old Trafford
Tielemans joined Aston Villa in 2023 on a free transfer after leaving Leicester City, where he helped the Foxes win the FA Cup.
During his time at Villa Park, he played a key role in helping Unai Emery’s side qualify for the UEFA Champions League and secure the UEFA Europa League title last season.
However, the midfielder missed Belgium’s 2-1 World Cup quarter-final defeat to Spain because of injury.
