OPC Announces Special Courts and 24/7 Airport Desks for Overseas Pakistanis

The Overseas Pakistanis Commission (OPC) has introduced a set of institutional reforms aimed at improving legal and administrative support for citizens living abroad, including the creation of dedicated courts and round-the-clock facilitation desks at key airports.

Under the new framework, special courts will be established at the district level across the country to exclusively hear cases involving overseas Pakistanis. The initiative is designed to ensure faster case resolution by prioritising disputes linked to expatriate citizens within a streamlined judicial setup.

According to officials, these courts will operate with a clear mandate to fast-track litigation involving overseas Pakistanis, reducing delays that often arise in the conventional legal system. Preparatory work on the required administrative structure has already been completed to support the rollout of the initiative.

In parallel, the OPC will also set up facilitation desks at Lahore and Islamabad airports in the first phase. These counters will function 24 hours a day to assist arriving overseas Pakistanis with immigration procedures, customs-related queries, and other travel or documentation issues.

Authorities said the airport desks are intended to provide immediate on-ground support, ensuring that returning citizens receive timely guidance and resolution of common procedural challenges without unnecessary delays.

The commission stated that these measures form part of a broader effort to strengthen engagement with the Pakistani diaspora and improve service delivery for citizens returning to the country.
