The Punjab government has launched a major initiative aimed at strengthening women’s economic empowerment by expanding access to digital skills and dignified employment opportunities across the province.
Under the program titled e-Learn She Earn, thousands of women will receive structured training in modern, market-relevant digital skills designed to help them earn independently. The initiative reflects a growing focus on integrating women into the digital economy and reducing barriers to workforce participation.
Expanding digital skills for women
The one-year initiative targets women aged 15 to 35 and carries an estimated cost of Rs700 million. Participants will be offered free three-month online courses in fields where demand continues to grow globally and locally.
Training areas include digital customer care, graphic design, e-commerce store management, digital marketing, and virtual assistance—skills that support remote work, freelancing, and online entrepreneurship.
Support beyond training
In addition to free courses, selected participants will receive laptops, internet access, and a monthly stipend, ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent women from completing the program. Officials say this integrated support model is designed to improve learning outcomes and long-term employability.
By combining skills training with access to technology, the initiative aims to bridge the digital divide and create sustainable income opportunities for women, particularly those unable to participate in traditional workplaces.
Strengthening women’s role in the digital economy
The program aligns with broader efforts to increase women’s participation in Pakistan’s digital and knowledge-based economy. With more work shifting online, digital skills are increasingly seen as a pathway to flexible employment, home-based work, and small online businesses.
Officials say the initiative is not only about employment but also about enabling women to become economically independent contributors to household income and national productivity.
Long-term impact
By focusing on high-demand skills and practical support, the e-Learn She Earn program is positioned as a long-term investment in human capital development. It also reflects a shift toward inclusive growth strategies that recognise women as key drivers of economic resilience.
As digital platforms continue to reshape how people work and earn, programs like this are expected to play an important role in preparing women for future employment trends while promoting financial inclusion across Punjab.
