KP bans hunting at 57 locations until Dec 2025.
In an attempt to protect wildlife, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department has announced a complete ban on hunting across 57 dams, lakes, rivers, ponds and barrages of the province.
The ban will remain in effect until December 2025.
Hunting restricted in 57 water bodies
According to the announcement, hunting is strictly prohibited in 57 water bodies across KP. Officials warned that strict action will be taken against violators.
Hunting will only be allowed in specific designated places, and any hunting activity before sunrise or after sunset has been declared illegal.

New rules to regulate hunting
The Wildlife Department has also prepared new rules to regulate hunting practices. Hunters are banned from using electronic devices and call birds to lure prey.
Each licensed hunter will only be allowed to hunt a maximum of five waterfowl per day.
License and fee requirements
Special licensing fees have also been set for duck hunters. The license fee for a duck hunting dog has been fixed at Rs1,500 per year. In addition, a fee of Rs500 per day will be charged for using a special duck hunting gun.
Protecting KP’s wildlife
Officials said the new regulations are aimed at preserving the province’s rich biodiversity and protecting waterfowl species from overhunting.

The measures are also expected to promote sustainable hunting practices in line with international conservation standards.
