What actually happened with the PU girl who committed suicide in hostel?
A painful incident in Pakistan’s biggest public sector university shocked everyone as a student recognized as Umm-e-Habiba committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan.
The 5th-semester student at the Institute of Education and Research (IER) was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the hostel room of University of the Punjab on Sunday.
Habiba reportedly visited friend’s room in afternoon for a nap.
The friend returned at 7:30 pm to find the door locked and received no response to her knocks.

She immediately called the security personnel who forcibly opened the door, where they found girl’s lifeless body.
It has been reported that her elder sister is also a student in the same department and resides in the same hostel.
Talking exclusively to The Asian Mirror, a source close to the deceased has revealed that Umm-e-Habiba belongs to Sambrial in Sialkot district and there are high chances that she was running into “relationship problems” as she received a last message from a boy.
The boy reportedly texted, “Now go to rest.”
This incident speaks volumes about the growing toxic culture of relationships in our society.
Meanwhile, Muslim Town police started investigating along with the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA), quickly arrived on the scene to gather evidence.
PU spokesperson said the incident may be a case of suicide, although the police officials are investigating from every aspect.
