A series of bomb threats rattled schools across Delhi and Noida, prompting mass evacuations and a swift response from authorities.
The threats, reportedly sent via email to approximately 100 schools in Delhi and two in Noida, led to heightened security measures and widespread concern among residents.
Immediate Response:
Bomb detection teams, bomb disposal squads, and officials from the Delhi Fire Service were deployed to the affected schools following the receipt of the threats on Wednesday morning.
Students were promptly evacuated from school premises as a precautionary measure, ensuring their safety.
Ministry of Home Affairs’ Statement:
In a statement issued by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs, the origin of the threatening emails was attributed to Russia based on preliminary investigations.
However, the ministry assured the public that the emails appeared to be hoaxes, urging against panic.
“There is no need to panic. The emails appear to be hoaxes. Delhi Police and security agencies are taking the necessary steps as per protocol,” the statement said.
Delhi Police and security agencies were reported to be following protocol and taking necessary steps to address the situation.
Investigation and Suspicions:
Initial findings suggested that the emails originated from Russia, with the IP addresses featuring Russian language.
However, suspicions arose regarding the potential use of virtual private networks (VPNs) to mask the true origin of the threats.
Despite thorough checks conducted by Delhi Police, no evidence supporting the threats was found in any of the schools.

Expansion of Threats:
The scope of the threats extended beyond schools, as some hospitals in the region also reported receiving similar emails a day prior to the school incidents.
Ravinder Yadav, special CP of Delhi Police (Crime), confirmed the reception of such emails by hospitals, indicating a broader investigation into the matter.
Ongoing Investigation:
As bomb threats rock Delhi and Noida schools, authorities continue to investigate the source and motive behind the bomb threats.
The inclusion of hospitals in the threats adds complexity to the investigation, raising questions about the intentions behind such actions.
Delhi Police are diligently pursuing leads to ensure the safety and security of the public.
