Pakistani student enrollment in US universities soars by 16%. The US State Department has released a report revealing a substantial 16% upswing in the enrollment of Pakistani students in American universities over the past year.

According to the meticulously compiled annual Open Doors Report for the 2022-23 academic year, produced in conjunction with the Institute of International Education (IIE), the number of Pakistani students pursuing advanced studies in US institutions has surged from 8,772 to 10,164.

This surge underscores the sustained allure of the United States as the premier destination for international study in the academic year 2022-2023.

The data also highlights a significant milestone, with the US playing host to over one million international students (1,057,188) during this period, signaling a remarkable 12% increase from the preceding academic year – the most rapid growth rate observed in over four decades.

The report positions Pakistan among the top eight countries experiencing substantial growth in the number of students seeking education in the United States.

Ambassador Masood Khan, Pakistan’s envoy to the United States, expressed enthusiasm for the substantial increase in enrollment numbers.

He conveyed optimism that the ongoing collaborative efforts would lead to a doubling of these figures within the next three years.

Ambassador Khan extended gratitude to the Joe Biden administration for its collaboration in the education sector.

He emphasized that the increasing presence of Pakistani students in various US institutes not only mirrored close cooperation in the realm of education but also augured well for robust Pak-US relations in the future.

Additionally, he underscored a strategic focus on affording Pakistani students enhanced opportunities in STEM subjects, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

As Pakistani student enrollment in US universities soars by 16%, the aim is to enable these students to benefit from the wealth of expertise and knowledge in these disciplines offered by educational institutions in the United States.
