Iran urges India to use power to end Israel’s assault on Gaza. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi urged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to employ its full capacities to cease Israeli actions in Gaza amidst the continuing conflict.
The conversation between the two leaders emphasized the pressing need for global joint efforts to facilitate an immediate ceasefire, lift the blockade, and provide aid to the oppressed people of Gaza.
Raisi, referencing India’s historical struggles against Western colonialism and its significant role as a founding member of the Non-Aligned Movement, highlighted the expectation for India to leverage its influence to halt what he termed as “Zionist crimes” against the suffering population of Gaza.
The Iranian President expressed Tehran’s strong support for any collaborative international initiatives geared toward ending the conflict and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
He condemned the relentless killing of civilians, particularly women and children, as well as the attacks on vital infrastructures like hospitals, schools, and religious establishments, deeming such actions unacceptable from a humanitarian standpoint.

Furthermore, Raisi underscored the legitimate right of Palestinian resistance groups to confront what he described as the “usurping Zionist regime’s occupation,” urging all nations to support the Palestinian people’s pursuit of freedom from oppression.
He drew attention to what he perceived as a double standard in the global response, questioning why the resistance of Palestinian people against the actions of the Israeli regime is not held in the same regard as the European countries’ resistance against Nazi Germany.
Within this diplomatic discourse, Raisi also emphasized the strategic importance of the relationship between Iran and India, stressing the need for enhanced cooperation and compensating for any previous delays in their collaboration.
He particularly highlighted the significance of the North-South Corridor and urged India to make substantial investments to bolster sustainable economic cooperation, including within the Chabahar Port.
Prime Minister Modi echoed the importance of preventing further escalation, ensuring the continuous delivery of humanitarian aid, and swiftly restoring peace and stability in the region.
The leaders expressed contentment with the progress in bilateral cooperation, notably within the Chabahar port, and underlined the necessity of maintaining communication to address the rapidly evolving situation in West Asia.
