The interim Punjab government has given the Pakistan Army over 45000 acres of land for a “Corporate Agriculture Farming” project.
According to Pakistani media reports, it is a “joint venture” aimed at increasing crop yield and ensuring food security.
“The army will play a role at the management level to make the project a success story. However, ownership of the land will continue to stay with the provincial government. The military will not get any profit or share in the revenue to be mopped from corporate agriculture farming,” The News International quoted a source as saying in its report.

According to the report, corporate agriculture farming will begin on 45000 acres of Punjab government land in the districts of Bhakkar, Khushab, and Sahiwal. The project will be finished in stages. This project would also include corporate entities.
The Punjab government’s barren and under-cultivated state lands will be used for corporate farming under the project. Locals would be included in the modern and mechanized farming project.
