RAWALPINDI: The start of today’s fourth day of play between Pakistan and Australia has been postponed due to overnight rain and a soggy outfield. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 09:45 a.m.
The umpires will assess the ground again at 12:15 p.m. and make a decision on when the match will begin, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Due to adverse weather, the third day of the first Test at the Pindi Cricket Stadium was called off early on Sunday.
When the umpires took the players off the field because of poor lighting, Australia was 271-2. Marnus Labuschagne was undefeated on 69 and Steve Smith was on 24.
After declaring 476-4 on Saturday, Australia is 205 runs behind Pakistan with eight wickets remaining.
The Australians are visiting Pakistan for the first time in 24 years, after declining to do so previously owing to security concerns. They will play three Tests, as many one-day internationals as feasible, and a Twenty20 international on their current tour.
Fans are irritated by the Pindi pitch
The majority of cricket fans who attended Australia’s historic Pindi Test against Pakistan were disappointed with the pitch that had been prepared for the series opener, believing that a more yielding surface would have been more appropriate for such an event.
According to ‘The News,’ supporters who flocked to the stadium in large numbers over the last three days were taken aback by the curator’s choice.
“Test cricket’s popularity is already decreasing as T20I and other limited-overs formats gain traction. There should be more than one pitch for this historic occasion, not only the one at Pindi Stadium “Tehseen Ahmad, who came all the way from Peshawar to witness both teams play, made a comment.
