Foreign players of HBL PSL feel exasperated with strict bio-bubble rule

The tight bio-bubble rules put up by the Pakistan Cricket Board have left international players in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season seven frustrated (PCB).

Alex Hales of Islamabad United and Ben Duckett of Quetta Gladiators both pulled out of the HBL PSL 7 due to bubble fatigue. Others have requested that more facilities be provided in an open-air setting.

Several Pakistani players are also dissatisfied with their confinement to the hotel and stadium, as well as the fact that their families are not permitted to join them.

The PCB has established tight bio-bubble precautions for the HBL PSL 7 after the league’s previous two editions were postponed because to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In Karachi, the entire hotel has been booked, while in Lahore, a special wing of the hotel has been set aside for PSL. So far, the event has gone off without a mishap.

In Karachi, players participated in golf sessions, while the Lahore Qalandars hosted a safe supper; nevertheless, no activity has yet taken place in Lahore.

Foreign players are prone to cramping, and a PSL team official stated that the PCB must address the hard bio bubble protocols in this regard. “Foreign cricketers cannot spend their free time playing ludo or carom; they prefer to explore outdoor locations; many big names have refused to visit Pakistan due to the difficult bio bubble.”

Meanwhile, an unknown athlete expressed his opinion that they are far removed from everyday life. “It’s not easy to live in an environment like this for a month; the covid-19 instances are also on the decline; PCB needs to reconsider its bio bubble rules.”

PCB Director of Media Samiul Hasan Burney, on the other hand, informed a correspondent that the individuals are receiving excellent treatment and facilities in the controlled setting.

“This atmosphere was created to keep people safe from the infection while also maintaining the league’s reputation and integrity.”

“PCB has supplied several outdoor games for the athletes at the National High-Performance Center (NHPC), as well as barbeque facilities. Teams have arranged outside activities for their players, and PCB is assisting them with the necessary facilities.”
