Pakistan’s textile sector has started the new financial year on a strong note.
Textile exports jumped 43.13% month over month to $1.81 billion in July 2026, according to provisional data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.
Exports stood at $1.27 billion in June and were also 8.07% higher than the $1.68 billion recorded in July 2025.
In rupee terms, textile exports reached Rs504.34 billion.
Knitwear leads the way
Knitwear remained Pakistan’s biggest textile export category.
Exports rose 46.60% from June to $533.84 million in July. The category also recorded 4.06% growth compared with the same month last year.
Readymade garments also posted a strong performance.
Exports climbed 45.87% month over month to $459.99 million, while year-on-year growth reached 15%.
Bedwear exports increased 47.13% to $308.50 million, up 4.16% from July 2025.
Towels see the biggest jump
Among the major textile categories, towels recorded the strongest monthly growth.
Exports surged 60.35% to $106.36 million in July.
Made-up articles, excluding towels and bedwear, also jumped 58.51% to $77.21 million.
Cotton cloth exports rose 26.27% to $141.59 million, although they were slightly lower than a year earlier.
Cotton yarn exports increased 3.91% to $66.53 million and were up 18.69% year over year.
Textile imports also rise
Pakistan’s textile imports increased as well.
Imports climbed 5.37% month over month to $682.21 million in July, compared with $647.43 million in June.
They were also 14.82% higher than the $594.17 million recorded in July 2025.
Raw cotton imports fell 15.37% from June to $186.34 million but remained 30.01% higher than a year earlier.
Imports of synthetic and artificial silk yarn jumped 43% to $125.84 million, while worn clothing imports rose 6.30% to $62.36 million.
Synthetic fiber imports increased 4.34% to $72.42 million but were down 4.02% year over year.
The strong July export figures give Pakistan’s textile industry an encouraging start to fiscal year 2026-27.
