Bilawal supports PTI’s demand for judicial inquiry into May 9 events.
Bilawal Bhutto, former Foreign Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has thrown his support behind the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in their demand for an inquiry into the events surrounding the protests of May 9.
During a recent session of the National Assembly (NA), Bhutto underscored the gravity of the violent attacks on state institutions and monuments of national significance during the May 9 protests.
Echoing the sentiments expressed by PTI’s Gandapur, Bhutto advocated for a thorough investigation into the matter, proposing the formation of a judicial commission.
He emphasized the importance of all stakeholders accepting and abiding by the findings of such a commission.

Highlighting the necessity of addressing the aftermath of the May 9 protests to ensure progress in the nation’s political landscape, Bhutto called upon Prime Minister Shehbaz to establish a commission led by Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
Notably, Bhutto conveyed PPP’s readiness to stand in solidarity with PTI, contingent upon the former ruling party’s commitment to respecting the outcomes of the judicial inquiry.
During his address, Bhutto also addressed concerns regarding the handling of sensitive documents within the NA, cautioning against any potential leakage that could compromise Pakistan’s security interests.
Despite facing protests from lawmakers of the Sunni Ittehad Council, Bhutto stood firm in his stance, even levelling criticism at them, referring to them as ‘cartoons’ for their apparent inability to tolerate dissenting views.
As Bilawal supports PTI‘s demand for judicial inquiry into May 9 events, he also condemned the dissolution of the assembly just prior to a vote of no-confidence in 2022, denouncing it as a blatant violation of the constitution.
He stressed the significance of condemning such breaches of constitutional protocol in a unified manner.
