CM Maryam Nawaz announces to build a free cancer hospital in Lahore.

In a significant stride towards improving healthcare accessibility and affordability in Pakistan, Lahore is poised to witness the establishment of a state-of-the-art cancer care facility, announced by the recently elected Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz.

The decision comes as a relief for many grappling with the exorbitant costs associated with cancer treatment in a country where healthcare expenses can pose a significant burden on patients and their families.

The proposed hospital, slated to be located near Valencia Town in Lahore, aims to provide free treatment to cancer patients.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, after personally inspecting the site, emphasized the importance of this endeavor, underlining that the facility will be equipped with top-tier medical professionals and cutting-edge technology to ensure quality care.

In a bid to further alleviate the challenges faced by patients and their caregivers, plans are underway to construct a hotel adjacent to the hospital premises, offering accommodations for attendants during the treatment period.

This initiative aligns with Chief Minister Nawaz’s broader vision for healthcare reform in Punjab, which prioritizes maternal and child health.

Phase-wise reforms have been approved to bolster healthcare infrastructure across the province, ensuring the availability of essential medical resources in all hospitals.

To foster transparency and accountability, a Health Advisory Council comprising government officials, healthcare professionals, and public representatives will be established to oversee the implementation of healthcare policies and initiatives.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Nawaz has directed efforts towards the enhancement of Basic Health Units (BHU) and Rural Health Centers (RHC) with standardized design specifications.

The Secretary of Communication and Works has been tasked with presenting mock designs for BHU and RHC within a stipulated timeframe, signaling a commitment to uniformity and quality in healthcare infrastructure.

As CM Maryam Nawaz announces to build free cancer hospital in Lahore, these developments underscore a concerted effort by the government to address the healthcare needs of its citizens, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing journey towards comprehensive healthcare reform in Punjab.
