Nawaz Sharif’s warrants suspended in Toshakhana case. Nawaz Sharif’s former permanent warrant in the Toshakhana case has been suspended by an accountability court.

According to a petition, the court put a hold on the arrest warrant for Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana case until October 24. However, it stated that if Mr. Sharif does not show up in court by the deadline, the warrant will be reinstated.

In the Toshakhana case, the Accountability Court has yet to rule on whether to grant protective bail to PML-N leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The three-time premier, who is set to return to his homeland after four years, has petitioned Islamabad’s accountability court to have perpetual warrants issued against him lifted.

The court reserved its decision on the petition after hearing brief arguments. Nawaz was represented by Advocate Qazi Misbah, who stated that his client will return on October 21 and is seeking warrants to be suspended until October 24.

Meanwhile, the anti-corruption watchdog informed the court that he had no objection if the accused surrendered in court.

The accountability court judge inquired as to why Mr. Sharif had not appeared in court since the perpetual warrants were issued in October 2020.

According to his counsel, Nawaz traveled to the United Kingdom for medical reasons, and his petition is still pending in the Lahore High Court.

The verdict on warrant suspension was then reserved.

As Nawaz Sharif’s warrants suspended in the Toshakhana case, the IHC had previously served NAB with a notice on Nawaz’s petitions for protective bail in the Al-Azizia and Avenfiled references.

Rafay Maqsood was nominated as a prosecutor by the NAB Rawalpindi Bureau to appear before the IHC bench.
