Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Launches ‘Maryam Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab’ Development Projects in 51 Cities

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has officially launched development work under the flagship program ‘Maryam Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab’, covering 51 cities across the province.

The initiative aims to upgrade urban infrastructure and improve essential civic services for residents.

Chairing a special meeting, CM Maryam directed authorities to complete the first phase by June 2026, with a focus on sewerage systems and core urban infrastructure. She has taken direct oversight of the Punjab Development Plan to ensure transparency, efficiency, and timely execution.

Monitoring and Supervision Measures

To strengthen supervision, the government is establishing provincial and district-level control rooms for real-time monitoring and quick resolution of public complaints.

Under the plan, the provincial administration will construct 5,887 kilometers of sewerage lines and 181 drainage lines and install over 33,000 manhole covers. Additionally, HDPE sewerage pipe production is underway to support the projects.

City-Specific Development Initiatives

Deputy commissioners briefed CM Maryam on city-specific projects. Key initiatives include:

  • Multan: Sewerage expansion and road development

  • Gujranwala: Largest-ever urban development package

  • Dera Ghazi Khan: Over Rs. 12 billion allocated for sewerage and drainage works

  • Bhakkar: Sanitation improvements, parks, and solar-powered waste disposal stations

  • Vehari, Sheikhupura, Kasur: Comprehensive civic infrastructure upgrades

CM Maryam emphasized immediate improvements in cleanliness and sanitation in Sheikhupura and Pattoki, praised the renovation of Kasur DHQ Hospital, and stressed that development must reach every street and neighborhood.

Swift Response to Murree Snowfall

Under her leadership, the provincial administration restored normal life in Murree after nearly 30 hours of heavy snowfall.

Authorities cleared 185 kilometres of roads using modern machinery, enabling the resumption of traffic and tourism. CM Maryam praised the field teams for their prompt and effective response.

Condolences Over Daska Road Accident

Separately, CM Maryam expressed deep grief over a fatal road accident in Daska that claimed five lives, including children, and extended condolences to the bereaved families.
