PSL 2027 Likely to Stay in April-May Window Amid IPL Clash

The Pakistan Super League (PSL 12) will be played from March 18 to May 2, 2027, with all eight franchises set to return for the tournament’s 12th edition.

The tournament window was finalized after consultations with key stakeholders during the PSL Governing Council meeting in London on September 1, 2026. Representatives and owners of all eight franchises attended the meeting.

PSL 12 Preparations Underway

The confirmation of the tournament window clears the way for the next stages of preparations, including direct player signings, retention announcements, the trade window and the player auction.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) said dates for these activities will be announced later, along with the complete match schedule, venues and ticketing details.

The 2027 season will follow a major change introduced in PSL 11, when the league expanded to eight teams and replaced its traditional player draft with an auction system.

Peshawar Zalmi Won PSL 11

Peshawar Zalmi enter PSL 12 as the defending champions after beating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the PSL 11 final on May 3, 2026.

The victory ended a nine-year wait for Zalmi’s second PSL title.

The final was played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where the league reported a record crowd of 32,461 spectators.

The expanded eight-team format is expected to continue in PSL 12, with all franchises preparing to strengthen their squads ahead of the auction and the new season.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the board was committed to delivering another successful PSL season.

PSL CEO Salman Naseer described the announcement of the tournament window as the first major step in preparations for the 2027 edition.

Further details on player movements, squad composition, match venues and ticket sales will be announced by the PCB as preparations progress.

With the dates now confirmed, the focus will shift to squad building and the auction as the eight PSL franchises begin preparing for another title race.
