Lahore Rickshaw Driver Arrested for Allegedly Posting Woman’s Number on Dating App

A Lahore rickshaw driver has been arrested for allegedly posting a female passenger’s phone number on a dating app following an argument during an online ride, police said.

According to police, the driver, identified as Latif, allegedly uploaded the woman’s mobile number to a matchmaking platform as retaliation after the dispute. The woman subsequently began receiving repeated calls from unknown individuals.

Woman Reports Harassment to Lahore Police

The woman later reported the incident during an open court held by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations.

Police investigated the complaint and allegedly traced the posting of the woman’s phone number to the rickshaw driver.

The incident reportedly began with an argument between the passenger and Latif during an online rickshaw ride. Police said the driver allegedly used the woman’s personal information after the disagreement.

Nishtar Colony Police Register Case

Following the investigation, Nishtar Colony Police registered a case against Latif and arrested him.

A spokesperson for the DIG Operations said action was taken after investigators allegedly established the driver’s involvement in uploading the woman’s number to the dating platform.

The spokesperson said police would continue to respond to complaints involving harassment and misuse of personal information.

Police Warn Against Misuse of Personal Information

Police said harassment of women and the misuse of their personal information would not be tolerated.

The DIG Operations spokesperson added that complaints from citizens would be addressed promptly and that investigations would be conducted on merit.

Authorities also stressed the importance of protecting women’s privacy, dignity and safety, saying responsibility for preventing the misuse of personal information extends across society.

The allegations against the driver remain subject to the legal process.
