Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam appeared frustrated after fans repeatedly entered the playing area during a President’s Trophy Grade-I match in Islamabad, with footage showing him taking a spectator’s mobile phone and throwing it away.
The incident took place at Diamond Ground during the fourth round of the first-class tournament, where Babar was playing for OGDCL against State Bank of Pakistan.
Babar was dismissed for just 21 runs, extending a difficult start to his return to domestic cricket. As he walked back towards the pavilion, a large group of supporters gathered around the starbatter, with several fans attempting to take selfies with him.
Fans Repeatedly Enter Field During Match
The crowd had also caused interruptions during the match, with spectators reportedly entering the field to take pictures with Babar.
At one stage, several fans surrounded the Pakistan batter while he was fielding. The repeated attempts to approach him appeared to cause frustration as security struggled to keep spectators away from the playing area.

Footage circulating on social media shows Babar taking a fan’s mobile phone before throwing it away while surrounded by the crowd.
The video has since attracted attention online, although the circumstances immediately before and after the incident are not fully clear from the footage.

Babar Azam Struggles on Domestic Return
Babar’s latest dismissal also extended his difficult start since returning to domestic cricket after almost seven years.
The OGDCL batter had not played domestic cricket since the 2019 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final. In his previous appearance for the team, he scored only 12 and four runs in the two innings.
His latest innings ended on 21 after he top-edged a pull against Arshad Iqbal, with a fielder completing the catch at mid-wicket.
In his earlier match, fellow Test cricketer Faheem Ashraf dismissed Babar lbw in the second innings.
Babar Has Scored 37 Runs in Three Innings
Babar’s return to first-class cricket was expected to provide an opportunity to regain form through regular domestic competition.
However, he has so far managed only 37 runs across his first three innings for OGDCL.
The latest innings adds to a challenging run for the former Pakistan white-ball captain, who remains an important figure in the national Test setup.
For now, Babar’s domestic campaign continues with the focus on finding consistency with the bat while OGDCL progresses through the President’s Trophy competition.
