A first for Emraan Hashmi

The Rs100 crore milestone is especially important for Hashmi.

For the first time, the 49-year-old actor has crossed the mark as the solo lead of a film.

He was previously part of Rs100 crore-plus movies such as Tiger 3 and They Call Him OG, but played supporting or antagonist roles in those projects.

With Awarapan 2, Hashmi has now delivered the milestone in a leading role.

Awarapan is back in the spotlight

The success is also giving the Awarapan franchise a fresh boost.

The original Awarapan, released in 2007, had a modest theatrical run. Over the years, however, its emotional story and memorable music helped it build a loyal cult following.

Now, nearly two decades later, Awarapan 2 appears to be turning that nostalgia into strong box office numbers.

Made on a reported budget of Rs45 crore, the sequel has already earned more than twice its production cost.

The film also features Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, Survinder Vicky and Puran Gabbi.
