Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met with a delegation from Oxford University Press (OUP) Pakistan to discuss ways to improve education standards and promote a modernized education system across the province.
During the meeting, the OUP delegation praised the Punjab government’s education initiatives, particularly the Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence project, and offered its support to help the provincial government further improve educational standards.
Pilot Curriculum Project Planned at Schools of Eminence
The two sides agreed to expand cooperation between the Punjab School Education Department and Oxford University Press. As part of the collaboration, a pilot project incorporating OUP’s curriculum will be launched at the Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence.
OUP also offered to provide digital training programs for teachers, capacity-building support, teaching guides, and assistance in other academic areas. The delegation described the educational standards already in place at the Schools of Eminence as exceptionally high.
CM Calls Education Quality a Government Priority
Maryam Nawaz welcomed the proposed collaboration, saying that improving the quality of education remains a core priority for her government.
She also said her ambition extends beyond Punjab, adding that she hopes to serve people in Sindh and other provinces as well, and said she is deeply aware of the challenges faced by residents of Karachi and across Sindh.
CM Points to Rising Interest in Government Schools
Maryam Nawaz further said the improving standard of public education in Punjab can be measured by the growing interest among parents seeking admission for their children in government schools.
