Actor Prakash Raj has once again expressed support for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) movement, while questioning why many Bollywood celebrities have remained silent amid the ongoing protests.
Raj joined demonstrators during the Chalo Sansad march in New Delhi before participating in a gathering at Jantar Mantar, where he was seen holding a copy of the Constitution and addressing protesters.
The actor has consistently supported the student-led campaign and activist Sonam Wangchuk’s hunger strike in recent weeks.
Prakash Raj Questions Bollywood’s Response
Speaking in an interview with PeekTV, Prakash Raj was asked why several Bollywood personalities had not publicly commented on the demonstrations.
Responding to the question, Raj said those who choose to speak during difficult times are being closely watched by the public.
“People who speak, the world is watching… who will stand by the people. Simple,” he said.
He added that public movements often reveal the true character of influential personalities.
“It is not the question of being happy. Now you know who is what. Such movements show who has got the integrity, who will stand for the people. Who am I to say? I can talk to myself. People have great voices, great actors… I wish they used it for this. They have not, people will judge. When history will be written tomorrow, they may forgive those who made mistakes, but they will never forgive those who were silent.”
Joins Protest at Jantar Mantar
Raj later shared photographs from Jantar Mantar on X, expressing solidarity with the protesters.
“In solidarity with the youngsters of my country at #JantarMantar @Wangchuk66 #justasking,” he wrote.
The images showed the actor interacting with demonstrators, addressing the gathering, and posing with Sonam Wangchuk.
Calls on Leaders to Fulfil Their Responsibilities
While speaking at the rally, Raj urged elected representatives to perform their duties and praised young people for standing up for their future.
“The elected leaders should do their jobs. The youth of this country have decided to fight their fight. These youngsters are fighting for their dreams,” he said.
His remarks emphasized the role of young citizens in raising issues they believe are important and encouraged greater accountability from political leaders.
Other Celebrities Express Support
Prakash Raj is among several public figures who have backed Sonam Wangchuk’s campaign in recent weeks.
Actors Shabana Azmi and Poonam Pandey have publicly expressed support for the movement, while Hrithik Roshan, Vishal Dadlani, Sonakshi Sinha, and Chinmayi Sripaada have also shared messages of solidarity on social media.
Raj’s latest comments have renewed discussion over the role of celebrities in public movements, with supporters praising his outspoken stance while others continue to debate whether public figures should comment on political and social issues.
