The district administration has declared a local public holiday in Multan on Wednesday, July 22, to facilitate the observance of the 787th Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakaria Multani, one of the most revered Sufi saints in South Asia.
The announcement was made through an official notification issued by the office of the Deputy Commissioner.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Faisal Saleem confirmed that the holiday will allow devotees to participate in the annual Urs celebrations, which attract thousands of visitors from across Pakistan each year.
According to the notification, all government offices and public sector institutions throughout Multan district will remain closed on July 22. The local holiday has been declared to ensure smooth arrangements for the religious event and to facilitate pilgrims attending the ceremonies.
The annual Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakaria Multani is one of the largest religious gatherings in southern Punjab. Thousands of devotees visit the saint’s shrine to offer prayers, pay tribute, and participate in spiritual gatherings, Quran recitations, and other traditional ceremonies held during the celebrations.
Local authorities are expected to implement special security, traffic management, and public service arrangements to accommodate the large number of visitors expected during the Urs.
The district administration has advised residents and visitors to cooperate with officials and follow traffic and security instructions throughout the event.
