Bugti Announces Civil Award for Hero Who Saved Doctor in Quetta

Mir Sarfraz Bugti, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, has announced a civil award for Abdul Razzaq Tarakai, an employee of Civil Hospital Quetta, in recognition of his bravery during a recent acid attack on a female doctor at the hospital.

The announcement followed an incident in which Dr Mahnoor Nasar, a postgraduate trainee doctor, was critically injured after an assailant allegedly threw acid on her while she was on duty in the surgical ward of Civil Sandeman Hospital, one of the province’s largest public healthcare facilities.

According to officials, Abdul Razzaq Tarakai sustained injuries while attempting to shield and assist the doctor during the attack. He is currently undergoing medical treatment in Quetta.

In a statement shared on social media, Chief Minister Bugti praised Tarakai’s actions, saying he showed exceptional courage, humanity, and professional responsibility by rushing to help the injured doctor despite the serious risk to his own life.

Bugti described Tarakai as a valuable asset to society and said individuals who endanger themselves to save others embody the highest traditions of public service.

He announced that the Government of Balochistan would confer a civil award on Tarakai to honour his sacrifice and to promote values of compassion, bravery, and dedication to duty.

He added that such courageous citizens are a source of pride for the nation and serve as role models for future generations.
