The Embassy of Pakistan in Oman has announced a revised passport fee structure for Pakistani citizens residing in Oman, introducing updated charges and stricter penalties for lost passports. The new measures will come into effect from May 1, 2026, according to an official notification.
Under the updated system, passport fees will vary based on validity period and processing urgency, affecting both regular and urgent applicants.
A 5-year Pakistani passport with 36 pages will now cost 12 Omani Riyals under the normal category, while urgent processing will be charged at 19 Omani Riyals.
For applicants seeking longer validity, the 10-year passport with 36 pages will be available starting from 17 Omani Riyals, with additional charges expected for urgent service. The embassy has stated that complete details regarding all categories will be provided at passport facilitation counters.
In addition to the revised passport fees, the embassy has implemented a strict penalty policy for lost Pakistani passports, aimed at improving accountability and preventing misuse of official documents.
Under the new rules, applicants reporting the loss of a passport for the first time will be required to pay double the original passport fee.
In cases where a passport is lost for the second time, the penalty increases sharply to four times the original fee, significantly raising the financial burden on repeat offenders.
Officials said the updated policy is intended to discourage negligence and ensure greater care in handling passports, which are considered sensitive national documents.
The embassy has advised Pakistani citizens in Oman to take extra precautions to avoid loss or damage and the resulting financial penalties.
The announcement is particularly relevant for overseas Pakistanis in Oman, many of whom rely on consular services for passport renewal, replacement, and urgent travel documentation. Citizens are encouraged to stay informed about the latest requirements before submitting applications.
