Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Monday apologised to cricket fans following changes to the schedule of the Pakistan Super League 2026 season, saying the decision was taken in the national interest amid prevailing regional conditions.
Speaking at a ceremony in Lahore to honour franchises participating in PSL 11, Naqvi said the revised and limited format of the tournament was unavoidable.
“National interest must always come first,” he told the audience, adding that the short-term inconvenience would help ensure stronger outcomes for the league in the future.
Trophy and Anthem Unveiled
The event was attended by domestic and international players, franchise representatives and senior officials. During the ceremony, the PSL 11 trophy was unveiled, and the league’s official anthem was launched.
Naqvi welcomed foreign and local cricketers and said the Pakistan Super League had evolved into a recognised international brand. He pledged continued efforts to strengthen its global standing despite current challenges.
Government and Cricket Officials Attend
Several senior government figures and officials were present, including Muhammad Aurangzeb, Attaullah Tarar, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan and Marriyum Aurangzeb, among others.
Franchise owners, members of the national team’s coaching staff, full PSL squads and overseas players signed for the tournament also attended the ceremony.
