PMDC Makes Provisional Registration Mandatory for Foreign Graduates

PMDC Makes Provisional Registration Mandatory for Foreign Graduates

The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced that provisional registration is now mandatory for all foreign medical graduates before they can begin their house job in Pakistan.

According to the official notification, no foreign medical graduate will be allowed to undertake a house job without obtaining provisional registration from the PMDC. Any house job currently being carried out without this registration must cease immediately, the council stated.

PMDC Directives to Medical Colleges and Hospitals

The PMDC has directed all public and private medical colleges and hospitals across Pakistan to strictly comply with this new requirement. The regulation applies exclusively to graduates from PMDC-recognized foreign medical universities.

Graduates from non-recognized foreign institutions will need to pass the National Registration Examination (NRE) in order to qualify for provisional registration and become eligible for a house job.

The move ensures that foreign medical graduates meet official standards before practicing in Pakistan, strengthening patient safety and maintaining quality standards in medical education and training.

Medical professionals and institutions are advised to review the PMDC notification carefully to ensure compliance and avoid legal or professional complications.
