The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has requested that the federal government increase the power tariff per unit by up to 95 paisas.
The federal government has been informed of Nepra’s decision to raise electricity tariffs.
Following the federal government’s announcement, power distribution firms (Discos) would charge consumers an extra 95 paisas per unit in their electricity bills.
According to Nepra papers, consumers who consume 100 units will see a 53 paisa increase in power tariff and an eight paisa increase in power tariff.
Consumers who use 101 to 200 power units will see a rise of 18 paisas, while those who use 291 to 300 power units would see a 48 paisa increase.
Customers that use 301 to 700 units will receive a 95 paisa increase per unit.
Nepra has published its decision in accordance with government policy guidelines and to examine the power sector subsidy.
