Ex-TLP leader Pir Afzal Qadri passes away after illness. Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri, the former leader of Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan, breathed his last in Gujrat, as confirmed by his family on Wednesday.

Reports from local media outlets shed light on Qadri’s health struggles, which ultimately led to his passing. His funeral prayer is slated to take place in Mararian at 2 pm on Thursday, attracting mourners and well-wishers from across the region.

Qadri’s significance in the political landscape stemmed from his close association with TLP founder Allama Khadam Rizvi, under whose tutelage he had played a pivotal role.

Active and engaged in the political sphere for many years, Qadri served as TLP’s patron-in-chief until he retired from the party in 2019.

However, Qadri’s political journey was not without controversy.

He found himself embroiled in legal battles, with one notable case revolving around his inflammatory remarks during a protest against Supreme Court judges.

The charges against him, including sedition and terrorism, underscored the tumultuous nature of his involvement in Pakistani politics.

In 2019, amid a government crackdown, Qadri was arrested, adding another chapter to his complex narrative. Despite facing legal challenges, he was later released, demonstrating the ebb and flow of his political fortunes.

As Ex-TLP leader Pir Afzal Qadri passes away after illness, it marks the end of a chapter in the nation’s political history.
