Rs1000 note with one printed side has been found in Karachi. A bank customer in Karachi, Pakistan’s financial capital, has reported a peculiar incident involving the issuance of defective currency notes by the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP).
According to the customer, who preferred to remain anonymous, they withdrew funds from an NBP branch only to discover that two of the Rs1000 denomination notes they received were printed on only one side.
The matter came to light when a video clip, shared by the NBP branch manager, surfaced on social media platforms, showcasing the unusual ‘one-side blank’ currency notes.
The manager highlighted that these misprinted notes were part of bundles received from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), raising concerns about the potential circulation of such flawed currency in the financial system.
Upon inquiry, a spokesperson for the State Bank confirmed that the issue had been brought to their attention and was promptly forwarded to the relevant department for investigation.
Additionally, the central bank has initiated its own probe to identify the root cause behind the printing error.
This incident occurs amidst the State Bank’s recent announcement regarding the introduction of a new series of banknotes aimed at combating counterfeit currency and promoting financial transparency within Pakistan’s economy.
The incident underscores the importance of stringent quality control measures in the printing and distribution of currency to maintain public trust and confidence in the monetary system.
