Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has condemned the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Multan for their alleged mistreatment of his family during a Pakistan Super League (PSL) match, sparking controversy during the ongoing tournament.

Taking to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, Amir expressed dismay over what he described as “unacceptable behavior” towards his family members.

He accused the DC of Multan of displaying arrogance by claiming ownership of the ground and reportedly ejecting his family from the venue during the match.

In a strongly worded statement, Amir emphasized the gravity of the situation, labeling the abuse of power as “intolerable” and urging immediate action from the concerned authorities.

He specifically called upon Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to intervene and address the issue promptly.

The incident unfolded amidst the backdrop of the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League, with matches being held simultaneously in Lahore and Multan.

Amir, a prominent figure in Pakistani cricket, made headlines earlier in the tournament after being drafted by Quetta Gladiators, marking a departure from his previous stint with Karachi Kings since the inception of the league in 2016.

Notably, he was selected as the Gladiators’ second pick in the Platinum round, adding to the anticipation surrounding his performance in the ongoing season.

Amir’s retirement from international cricket in December 2020 had already stirred debates within the cricketing community.

Despite calls for a potential return to representing Pakistan, particularly from former team director Muhammad Hafeez, Amir has remained steadfast in his decision to step away from the international arena.

He reiterated his stance during a media interaction last year, emphasizing the need for the younger generation to take the reins and lead Pakistan’s cricketing endeavors on the global stage.

As Mohammad Amir asks CM Maryam to take action against Multan DC’s ‘mistreatment’, the controversy surrounding the mistreatment of Amir’s family underscores broader concerns regarding the conduct of authorities and the protection of players and their families during high-profile sporting events.
