Israel designates Lashkar-e-Taiba as terrorist organization. In a significant move marking the anniversary of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, Israel has officially designated Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) as a terrorist organization.
The decision, which comes without a formal request from the Indian government, underscores Israel’s commitment to combatting global terrorism.
The Israeli embassy released a statement describing LeT as a “deadly and reprehensible” organization responsible for the heinous actions of November 26, 2008.
The attacks, lasting until November 29, claimed the lives of 166 people, including six Jews at the Nariman House, also known as the Chabad House.
The statement emphasizes that Israel, despite not being urged by India, has completed all necessary procedures and checks to include LeT in its list of illegal terrorist organizations.
The 2008 Mumbai attacks drew international condemnation as terrorists armed with automatic weapons and grenades targeted various sites, including the Chhatrapati Shivaji railway station, the Leopold Cafe, hospitals, and a theater.
The Israeli embassy’s declaration reflects a shared concern between India and Israel regarding the ongoing threat posed by LeT.
As Israel designates Lashkar-e-Taiba as terrorist organization, the embassy’s statement underscores the tragic impact of the events on the international community, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to combat terrorism and promote global security.
