Shahid Afridi disappointed with Shaheen‘s bowling against India.
Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan, expressed his displeasure with Shaheen Shah Afridi’s bowling during the Asia Cup 2023 match against India.
In a humbling loss to their bitter rivals on Monday in Colombo, Sri Lanka, the Green Shirts suffered their biggest-ever ODI defeat.
Despite being set a lofty target of 357 runs, Men in Blue managed to restrict Pakistan to 128-8 in 32 overs despite Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf being unable to bat due to injuries.
Shahid Afridi stated that Shaheen must maintain consistency with his line and length when discussing the bowlers’ performance in an interview.

“You cannot get angry with yourself if you are unable to take wickets in the first two overs. You cannot give excuses like this,” said the 46-year-old, who is also Shaheen’s father-in-law.
As Shahid Afridi disappointed with Shaheen’s bowling against India, he also commented on the general bowling, claiming that despite the improved pitch, the bowling was unimpressive.
The famous cricketer Naseem Shah was complimented on his fast bowling and questioned why Shaheen did not bowl at Naseem’s length.
Shahid also responded to queries from the audience over the team’s decision to not bat first after winning the toss.
“If we had bowled properly [things would have been different], like the way Naseem Shah bowled early in the innings. Shaheen should have also bowled like Naseem but his line and length was not right,” he said.
“I think India had won the match after 20-25 overs,” he added.
The all-rounder, however, counselled the group to fight back and concentrate on their errors.
