Archeology Model United Nations event held at University of Malakand

The archeology model united nations event was organized by archeology students hails from the University of Malakand.

The archaeology model United nations was arranged by the department of archaeology students under the supervision of Nangyalay khan, director general, and Shahbaz khan, assistant director general AMUN.

Through AMUN, students will gain a better understanding of the inner workings of the United Nations and build skills in diplomacy, compromise, and decision-making, so they will have the opportunity to make decisions and solve problems. Students work as the representative of a country, or organization, and they can take a risk. Pakistan is one of the countries where 65%+ population is youth. This youth bulge is an asset to our country. MUN teaches participants skills like research, public speaking, debating, writing, critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership.

Today’s event was a pre-launch event for the upcoming AMUN. The students of archaeology _ University Malakand bring this first MUN concept to the Malakand division, but it’s worth noticing that the university of Malakand didn’t support the students, they organized the event in their capacity.

The star-studded event happened in which distinguished delegates speaks on the topic of archaeological sites and their preservations. The event is attended by students from different departments and teachers of archeology departments grace the occasion.
The event aimed to engage the students in healthy debate competitions and provide them with a platform to excel in their skills. There were two speakers, one from the computer science department who spoke on the theme of digital preservation of archeological sites and presented his idea of preserving the sites of Malakand division.

The second speaker was Mr. Hamza khan from the political science department who shed light on the role of heritage diplomacy in the promotion of archeological assets of Pakistan. Mr hamza further explained the interrelationship of power politics and heritage and how heritage diplomacy can portray the positive and soft image of Pakistan. He gives the example of the Kartar Pur corridor, which was built by the PTI government to shrink the tension between Pakistan and India. Kartarpur corridor is the religious sacred site of Sikhs. This gesture of Pakistan tilt the hearts of Sikhs towards Pakistan and the whole world lauded Pakistan for the peace gesture.

The teachers also spoke on the same theme and hailed the efforts of the participants of AMUN. The event was full of knowledge and entertainment, and the culture of Pukhtoon and Chitral was presented. Children wear costumes to portray the culture and cultural dance was performed. The participants were given recognition shields. In a nutshell, the AMUN event was comprehensive in all aspects. It was a pleasure for me to attend such an event. I admired the organizers to arrange such an event and will collaborate with them in the future.
