Cook joined Apple at the behest of iconic entrepreneur Steve Jobs. He was inspired to be part of the greater purpose behind the products.
“In 1998, Steve Jobs convinced me to leave Compaq and join a company on the verge of bankruptcy. They made computers, but at the time people weren’t interested in buying them anyway. Steve had a plan to change things. And I wanted to be part of it,” said Cook.

“I didn’t only know the iMac or iPod or everything that came after. These were values that gave life to these inventions. The idea that putting powerful tools in the hands of everyday people helps to release creativity and advances humanity,” explains Cook. Apple’s CEO gets up before 4 am every day, he told Axios in November. “I like to spend the first hour looking at user feedback and things like this that focus on the outside people who are so important to us,” Cook told Axios. “And then I go to the gym and work out for an hour because it keeps my stress at bay.”
