Four KP universities receive funding at last

On Sunday that four universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa facing severe financial difficulties have now received funding of over Rs291 million.

These are Peshawar University, Islamia College Peshawar, Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, and the University of Engineering and Technology (UET).

All of these universities have been unable to pay their faculty and staff for a number of months.

The KP Higher Education Department allocated Rs128 million to Mardan University, Rs140 million to Agriculture University Peshawar, Rs20 million to UET Mardan, and Rs103 million to Islamia College Peshawar.

The KP Minister of Higher Education, Kamran Bangash, denied reports that KP universities were experiencing financial difficulties.

According to him, grants have been distributed to these universities, but some organizations wish to highlight the KP HED department.
