Passengers and visitors at Lahore Railway Station have raised complaints over alleged overcharging in the station’s parking area, with citizens claiming that operators are collecting fees higher than the officially approved rates.
According to sources, the approved parking fee is Rs. 10 for motorcycles and Rs. 30 for cars. However, citizens allege that motorcycles are being charged Rs. 35 for the first two hours at the station parking facility.
Higher Parking Charges Reportedly Applied
Complaints also involve other types of vehicles. Citizens claim that parking operators are charging Rs. 50 for cars, Rs. 40 for rickshaws and Rs. 60 for vans for the first two hours.
The reported charges have raised questions about whether the parking facility is following the rates officially approved for Lahore Railway Station.
Additional Charges After Two Hours
Citizens have further alleged that parking operators are collecting an additional 50% of the applicable parking fee for every extra hour after the initial two-hour period.
The complaints have added to concerns over the monitoring and enforcement of parking charges at one of Lahore’s busiest railway facilities.
Citizens Seek Action Against Overcharging
Citizens have called on the relevant departments and senior Pakistan Railways authorities to take notice of the complaints and verify the rates being collected from passengers and visitors.
They have also urged authorities to ensure that only officially approved parking charges are enforced and to take appropriate action if the allegations of overcharging are found to be correct.
